Napkin turned Bunny a la Martha Stewart

Easter has come and gone, and it was definitely a lot of fun.  Courtney was busy cooking up her Grandma's special glazed ham and my Mom's delectable Chocolate Cheesecake.  And of course no meal is complete without an appetizer.  This Sunday's special was a cheesy-crab dip that I'm sure has a real name.  I got to set the table up for this Pagan-inspired holiday, and went with the classic Little Bunny Foo Foo napkin theme.  The guys got shut out in a best-of-three series of Washers, but I blame it on Forrest...at least for the first game.  Although I will commend Courtney, as she scored about 80% of all the points through both games.  Lucy even got a playmate for the day when Forrest & Nicole brought Stella over to play.  She always enjoys being with other dogs, but the feeling isn't always reciprocated.  Stella was probably the best small dog Lucy has been around.  She didn't mind that Lucy was literally 10 times her size and they went on for hours.  I'm sure they were both passed out by dusk.  Even though we don't have much family out here in Dallas, we can always count on good friends to enjoy some time together.

Making progress

The upstairs bedroom is slowly transforming into a nursery. In a short week we have gone from a guest bedroom to somewhat resembling a nursery. Tyler had flooring installed on Saturday and furniture was delivered today. This summer Tyler installed laminate flooring downstairs in the living and dining rooms. We have enjoyed this so much more than carpet so it seemed appropriate to incorporate it upstairs as well. The crib and dresser/changing table were delivered and assembled this morning from Pottery Barn. I still have to do a little bit of furniture shopping but the important items have been purchased and delivered which is a relief.


Now, the next big project will be to paint.

Sentimental

Starting to get a little sentimental these days. Last weekend I was watching Alabama A-Day and started thinking ... this will be my last time to watch Alabama football without a child. How weird is that?! It was my last time to watch football (at least for awhile) on my own terms and not on the child's schedule. I was already emotional before the game when I couldn't get any of my t-shirts to fit (not even the bigger ones) so I hunted down Tyler's size L. It fit perfectly, thank goodness! And today I am starting to get sentimental again with Easter being tomorrow. Why Easter? Well maybe because I know I am getting the chance to cook this big Easter dinner tomorrow for us and our friends knowing that it might be my last big celebration (china and all) that I will host. Sure I will throw something together around July 4th as I waddle around the kitchen but it won't involve using my china and I am almost positive it won't involve the oven during the middle of the Texas summer. So tomorrow I am going all out (in regular Easter fashion) with ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans, salad, rolls, and of course an assortment of appetizers (my favorite part of hosting). Oh and I guess I can't forget the fact that I will be attempting to make my mother in law's chocolate cheesecake for the first time. I don't know why I haven't tried it yet because it is one of my favorites. Perhaps I haven't tried because if I see how easy it is then I will make it too often. :)

Proud to announce we are expecting ...

Tyler and I are proud to announce that we are expecting a baby boy to be named Max. We are all (including the reigning princess Lucy) really excited to have a boy join the family. I've already started looking at all the little clothes and toys. I'm looking forward to having a momma's boy.

Our little one who is the size of a width of paper (8.5 inches from head to rump) loves to kick/jab in the afternoon. We have finally entered the stage in the pregnancy where Tyler can feel little Max's movements. We have a doctors appointment tomorrow to hear the heartbeat and do a weight check (of me).

Cravings

I haven't had any weird cravings like pickles and ice cream mixed together; at least not yet. But when I feel like I want something, I need it right then. This baby has me craving food that I don't normally eat like bean burritos from Taco Bell. As Tyler knows, I don't eat Taco Bell. But apparently Tyler's baby does. I'm posting this blog as I sit back and enjoy this week's craving ... carrots. I have had so many carrots in the last week that this baby should have x-ray vision. I prefer this craving way more than the bean burrito one.

There has been one craving has stayed throughout my entire pregnancy ... fried chicken and french fries. I can eat that for any meal. I guess I get that one from my dad. As my family knows, my dad HAS to have fried chicken when he goes on road trips. So far I have enough control power (as of right now) to limit myself to this craving twice a week at the most. Now my bread craving, that is a different story.

Next week is the cruise where I get to see what crazy food I crave while I am on a boat. Happy eating everyone!

Growing Up Fast

So I guess the baby is now about -5 months old, and oh has it changed dramatically. It has set world records in the following categories:

• Tallest child by Tyler & Courtney Faison
• Heaviest child by Tyler & Courtney Faison
• Longest toes by any child...ever

This was my first trip in the sonogram room since the very first confirmation of a heartbeat. Based on my lone previous experience, I wasn't expecting to see much, or at least know what I was looking at, but I was blown away. We were able to clearly see legs, arms, toes, rib cage, big brain matter, . I think the weirdest part was watching it literally suck a thumb. I know we're supposed to be good parents, but how do you stop bad habits from developing before the kid is even developed!? I guess that's just one of those questions that'll just have to go unanswered. It also yawned several times, which I'm to assume is from all the moving around. I'm guessing that it's camera shy, cause it didn't want seem too interested in getting its picture taken.

I think the coolest part of the whole experience was for me to be able to see what Courtney is feeling. She'll always say, "Ohh, I think it kicked!" and I'm just like, "Whatever. It's all in your mind." Now that I've seen it frolic about in the field that is her belly, I believe her. So if we got anything out of the trip, it's validation that Courtney isn't making up all of this stuff after all.

Belly Pains

The belly is starting to grow at huge rates and pretty soon I believe I will be in the "oh she is pregnant stage" instead of the current stage of "is she pregnant or just fat." With the growing belly comes stretching pain. I can't seem to get comfortable at night and sitting for long periods of time. I invested in a pregnancy pillow called the snoogle to help me get more comfortable. Basically you use it to wrap around your body for added comfort. It helps most nights and keeps me from rolling onto my back which has been deemed a no-no in your 2nd-3rd trimester. I got the great pillow idea from the movie The Backup Plan. If it was good enough for J-Lo then it is good enough for me. j/k I know for a fact that Lucy loves the pillow. Every morning she takes my place in the bed all snuggled up against the snoogle. Sometimes she takes my spot when I just get up for a pee break.
