Away from home

I am currently in flight to California to see the Crawfords. Yes, this is Courtney not Tyler who is leaving home. This will be my first time to be in a different state than Mr. Max. I'm trying to not focus on it and by not focusing on it ... I mean looking through all his photos from birth to now.

Wow, has that little man grown!

My impromptu trip to Monterey is short lived (2.5 days) but I hope I can be of some help to Robert and Laura as they prepare for the arrival of Mark. It is crazy to think that I used to be this big last June ...

Wow, how things change!

I tell you that I am not having any belly envy of Laura and Rebecca who are both in their 9th month. I am comfortably slouched in my chair and looking forward to grabbing some sleep on my next flight (LAX to Monterey).

One thing I do miss is always having a little one to make time fly. When pregnant, you focused on finding a restroom every 20ft, keeping food nearby, drinking enough fluids, ect. With Max, well he has his needs and a way of always making me smile.

Time flies with him. I wish he was here now to distract me cause this flight keeps dragging on.

We have now begun the decent. I'm going to shut the iPad and enjoy the view out my window. It isn't every day a girl from the south sees desert mountains. :)

Max vs Lucy

Clearly Max loves Lucy and vice versa.  The day after Max was using Lucy to learn to stand up by pulling on her, I get this video from Nicole. They are such a good combo!

Happy DaDa Day

Even though Tyler isn't able to be with us today, we can still celebrate all the great things about DaDa.

From the first time he held Max,

To all those late night diaper changes and burpings...

And holding Max's hand when he was afraid.

For all those milestone's that Tyler experienced first ... (there has to be a reason that Max rolled over, held a bottle, and crawled first for his DaDa)

And the fact that he makes a pretty awesome pillow ...

We love you Tyler/DaDa !!!

Swim, Swam, Slept

On Memorial Day we went across the street to our neighbors pool.  It was a perfect first swim for Mr. Max.  The pool wasn't crowded, weather was perfect, and the water was heated just to help take the initial cold away.  As our pediatrician says, "Max is the fairest in the land and needs sun protection from a full moon."  So I made sure that our little man was properly covered for our day at the pool.  Luckily Max enjoyed the water so much that he ignored the hat and layers of sunscreen I put on him.  Tyler was home for the weekend and was able to experience such a big moment in Max's life.

Come on Mom, it is a holiday ...
plus Daddy said it was okay

It was a great time catching up with our neighbors who have two young daughters (5 & 3) who were little fishes in the water.  I can only dream for Max to be swimming that well.  I grew up swimming at my uncle's pool just 2 doors down and I consider myself a good swimmer early on without all those fancy smancy swimming lessons.  Tyler said he learned by his dad throwing him into the Lake Forest pool but I am guessing that probably wasn't the case.
